THE OPPORTUNITYWestern Forest Products has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Supervisor for our US operations based in Vancouver, WA.What You'll Do: As Payroll Supervisor, you are responsible for all aspects of the US payroll at Western Forest Products. This includes ensuring compensation is paid to all WFP US employees in accordance with company policy and employment laws while maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality, accuracy, and efficiency.Who You Are: You have at least 5 years' experience in US payroll, specifically in the state of Washington, and preferable utilizing ADP. You are a Certified Payroll Professional with the American Payroll Association with a continuous learner mindset. Customer service is at the forefront for you, and you have a proven history of building collaborative relationships with those you are working with.Our total rewards offering includes:Salary range of $75,000 - $95,000 based on your skill level, qualifications, and experience.Annual Performance BonusDental and Medical Benefits; employee premiums for base plan are 100% paid for by WFP401(k) retirement savings planWork Environment: We are proud to offer a flexible work environment. This position is based out of our Columbia Vista Sawmill Operation with some flexibility to work from home based on the needs of the position. As we have multiple locations, occasional travel will be required to our worksites in Vancouver, Washougal and Arlington.RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for the timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll and benefits for our US operations and quarterly cross-border shadow payroll;Work closely with the Human Resources (HR) team to administer US benefits, answer ad hoc requests and provide payroll support to HR-lead projects;Monitor, reconcile and ensure timely federal, state, tax and other filings;Administration of the Company's 401K plan, including annual audit and filings;Maintain confidential information by adhering to legal and ethical standards;Stay up to date on US federal and state payroll legislation and policy changes and proactively implement changes in policy, systems and reporting;Supports HR in onboarding of US employees;Monitors and supports the management of the payroll and time system in our US operations, identifies any issues and makes recommendations for improvements;Acts as a lead on payroll process improvements and system conversion projects;Responsible for timely and accurate General Ledger interface files and various payroll reporting;Ensures all financial controls are operating correctly, including supporting the preparation of payroll account reconciliations by our US operations and other financial reporting requirements; makes recommendations for process improvements;Provide effective analysis, management reporting and strategic planning for the effective immediate and long-term operations of the US payroll function while interacting with other key departments such as finance, IT and HR on Payroll department projects; and,Other duties that may be assigned.QUALIFICATIONSEducation And Experience5+ years US payroll experience, preferably in the state of Washington;Certified Payroll Professional with the American Payroll Association;Experience with ADP is a strong asset;Bachelor's Degree in related field is an asset; and,Canadian payroll experience an asset.Skills, Knowledge and Required CompetenciesAbility to foster collaborative relationships both internally and externally;Continuous learner mindset with a focus on leveraging technology to improve accuracy and efficiency of both routine and complex tasks;Thorough research and problem-solving skills;Excellent customer service and communication skills;Ability to effectively manage multiple projects or assignments;Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills;Experience with ADP a definite asset; and,Knowledge of business finance, including accounting principles, practices and general ledger (base / familiarity).YOUR CAREERAt Western Forest Products, we believe our most significant asset is our people.
