OVERVIEW OF THE SCHOOL

The Goddard School Salmon Creek is a birth through Pre-K child development and child care center. We serve up to 166 students with a staff of 34. The Goddard School is not a traditional "daycare". Instead of reactively responding to the needs of the children, our teachers are proactively engaging them, stimulating their learning, and guiding them toward their next phase of development. We take our name of "school" seriously in that we're intentional with our children, and our teachers are lesson planning as early as our infant class.

SPECIFIC CLASSES

We're looking for a Preschool Teacher. This class would be up to 20 students mainly aged 2.5-4 years old.

SPECIFIC POSITION

This is a full-time, year-round position. It could be a co-lead position depending on the experience and education of the candidate. All teachers at the school are responsible for health, safety, and nurturing of the children according to Goddard standards-which exceed state requirements. We also need this person to fit a culture of warm people who work hard and put children first.

REQUIREMENTS

-1+ years relevant childcare experience required-group childcare preferred

Some relevant formal education

Ability to meet the state of WA requirements for assistant teachers at minimum.

Initial Certificate OR ability/willingness to attain this certificate within the first year and a half of employment (about 12 credits of ECE classes) paid for through a scholarship.

Must have a cleared WA state portable background check within 45 days of hire.

OTHER THINGS WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We will be looking for a warm personality quick to interact with children. We will be looking for someone who actively engages with children instead of someone who more passively supervises children. We will be looking for energetic people. We will be looking for someone with SOME formal education in ECE, Education, Human Development, etc. That might mean some classes, that might mean Initial 20/30, Childcare Basics, CDA, etc. We will substitute significant experience (1+ years in relevant GROUP care) for the education part as long as the person is willing to add education over time. We have to see that this person loves young children.
