Job Description:
Mechanical/Piping Engineer - Wellons, Inc. Wellons, Inc., a
Renewable Energy Company and a leading manufacturer for industrial
boiler and cogeneration plants, has an opening for an experienced
Mechanical/Piping Engineer to join our team.This position will
assist with the design and development of P&ID and piping
systems for our Industrial Biomass Boilers, Cogeneration Plants,
and Lumber Dry Kilns as well as auxiliary equipment.In this role
you will report to the Process & Piping Supervisor, but must be
comfortable interfacing with other engineering personnel, shop
staff, and non-engineering department personnel and management. You
will need to have a good working understanding of processes
associated with thermal fluid systems and a familiarity with
numerous piping systems & pieces of equipment including; Boilers,
Thermal Oil Heaters, Deaerators, Steam Drums, Mud Drums, Fluid
Storage Tanks, Cooling Towers, Pumps, Valves, Steam Traps, Soot
Blowers, Actuators, etc. RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a full-time
position which includes, but is not limited to, the
responsibilities and authorities outlined below. Utilizing
P&IDs and ASME code (BPVC, B31.1, B31.3) prepare & create 3D
piping models and 2D drawings for field installation of numerous
piping systems; feedwater, cooling water, steam, etc. that meet
system requirements. Adhere to and update when required internal
piping standards and specifications for pipe, fittings, flanges,
and valves. Create & Update P&IDs for thermal fluid systems.
Perform stress analysis on piping systems to evaluate safety.
Perform mechanical calculations to size and analyze piping systems
& equipment.The scope of these calculations could include: Pressure
drops, flowrates, and pipe stress analysis of fluid systems &
piping runs Pressure vessel and boiler pressure parts stress
analysis Heat mass balance, heat transfer surface area requirements
Line, Pump, and tank sizing Generate internal requisitions to the
purchasing department to order piping equipment. Provide technical
support to internal customers such as field supervisors, third
party installers, Wellons Customer Service and Wellons Sales.
Travel to job sites as required to provide onsite technical support
to customers or installers. REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor s Degree
in Mechanical Engineering, or similar REQUIRED SKILLS: At least 2-4
years experience in industrial processes piping design Knowledge of
Bentley AutoPlant & OpenPlant P&ID or equivalent CAD piping &
P&ID programs Proficient in Autodesk Product Suite (AutoCAD and
Inventor preferred) Good knowledge in MS-office applications
(Excel, Word, Access) Ability to travel as required DESIRED SKILLS:
Additional CAD Program knowledge; Revit, Tekla, Solidworks, Vault,
etc. Ability to read Process and Instrumentation Diagrams
(P&ID). Familiarity with industrial equipment: boilers,
conveyors, ductwork, heat exchangers, piping, kilns, structural
steel, etc. Familiarity with manufacturing processes, hands on
experience is especially valuable. Knowledge of the basic operating
principles of thermal fluid systems such as Boilers, Thermal Oil
Heaters, Kilns, etc. Knowledge of relevant codes; ASME, AISC, ASCE,
