Job Description:

This is an on call position, must be able to work a variable schedule sometimes on short notice. Will cover for sick calls, vacations, leaves of absence, and other staffing shortages. Must be flexible to work at either of the Audiology locations at Salmon Creek or Columbia Tech Center.Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including two doses of a 2-dose series or a single dose of a 1-dose series prior to start date. Fully vaccinated is defined as 14 days post series completion date.An Audiology Assistan t, after appropriate training and demonstration of competency, performs delegated tasks that are directed and supervised by a licensed audiologist. The Audiology Assistant will serve as liaison between patients, physicians, and internal/external customers in person and by telephone.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES-- - Greet and escort patients. Answer incoming phone calls.-- - Respond to all patient phone interactions in a caring and professional manner, using proscribed AIDET customer service standards.-- - Schedule patients.-- - Support standard of returning calls to all patients within 4 hours; promptly and effectively communicate patient requests or concerns to providers, clinical staff and/or Clinic Manager as needed for timely resolution.-- - Package and mail earmold orders, device repairs, and factory returns.-- - Perform inventories of equipment and supplies.-- - Enter clinic supply orders.-- - Perform checks on hearing aids and other amplification devices.-- - Perform troubleshooting and minor repairs to hearing aids, earmolds, and other amplification devices.-- - Clean hearing aids and other amplification devices.-- - Perform electroacoustic analysis of hearing aids and other amplification devices.-- - Instruct patients in proper use and care of hearing aids and other amplification devices.-- - Demonstrate alerting and assistive listening devices.-- - Instruct patients in proper ear hygiene.-- - Assist audiologists in treatment programs.-- - Assist audiologists with setup and technical tasks.-- - Prepare materials for ear impressions.-- - Maintain and restock test and treatment rooms.-- - Perform equipment maintenance and biological checks.-- - Perform non-diagnostic otoscopy.-- - Assist audiologists in hearing testing of pediatric patients.-- - Perform infection control duties within the clinic service areas.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS-- - High school degree or equivalent.-- - Previous experience in audiology or ENT department strongly preferred.-- - Previous experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred.-- - Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills-- - Excellent customer service skills.-- - Have a basic understanding of the needs of the population being served.-- - Previous experience with hearing aids and assistive listening devices preferred.-- - Must meet training requirements and have competency-based skills necessary for the performance of specific assigned tasks.-- - Good manual dexterity.-- - Excellent time management skills required.-- - Computer and keyboarding skills required.-- - Detail oriented and ability to multi-task.-- - Must have reliable and predictable attendance.The above information is intended to indicate the general nature and level of work required in this position.
