Job Description:

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including two doses of a 2-dose series or a single dose of a 1-dose series prior to start date. Fully vaccinated is defined as 14 days post series completion date. The on-call Infusion Nurse works in an outpatient infusion setting with a team of skilled professionals. In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of quality health care by utilizing nursing processes, assist the physician(s), and facilitate the integration of resources. Act as a patient advocate for a broad range of people with varied ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds and help patients maintain their health and treat illness. Full time training (4-5 days/week) for first 4 weeks. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES: Mixes and administers chemotherapy/biotherapy agents under the direction of a physician in accordance with prescribed protocols. Is knowledgeable of the actions of the biotherapeutic agents, of the interactions with the body's systems, and of the nursing interventions necessary to counteract or minimize reactions. Follows established protocols to maintain a clean and safe working environment. Safeguards self and others against the hazards of toxic drugs, disposes of hazardous waste according to approved protocol. Abides by Federal, State, and/or local standards regarding drug accountability. Makes independent judgments according to protocol; contacts physician as appropriate. Administers injections as ordered by physician. Completes accurate documentation of patient intervention and communication. Works with Financial Counselor to ensure accuracy of appointment type and billing information. Provides patient education on specific disease and drug related issues with clinical staff, patients, and family members as appropriate. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Current unencumbered WA State RN license. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS CPR certification. Minimum of two years of Infusion experience preferred Excellent venous access skills to include peripheral IV insertion, mediport and PICC care and maintenance required. Previous experience in an outpatient medical setting preferred. Previous experience with electronic medical record preferred.
