Pediatric Oncology Program in Portland, OR is seeking a Pediatric Oncology Clinic & Infusion Center Resource Nurse to join their team. Outpatient Position

  • Variable, Monday-Friday, clinic is open 7:00am and 7:00pm
  • This person will work 5-8s at 8:00 am - 5:00 pm or 4-10s at 7am-5:30p
  • 40% solid 60% liquid
  • 10 chairs and 2 procedures room. 2 isolation room. 20% of infusion patient population is non-oncology. Remicade, iron, gastro or neuro patients
  • Demonstrates competency in administration of chemotherapy and non- chemotherapy infusions, chemo Intravenous (IV) push and oral chemo.
  • Interprets chemotherapy road map in order to verify MD orders for chemotherapy and procedures
  • Documents in EMR all care provided, phone advice given, teaching provided
  • Thoroughly documents all nursing activities. Records medication start and stop times to ensure appropriate billing.
  • Documents clearly and thoroughly so knowledge of patients condition and any psychosocial factors are clear to the next care provide.
  • Navigates EMR and Infusion Plan applications proficiently, releasing chemo and lab orders appropriately and timely
  • Coordinates care during the assigned day with all members of care team including teachers, social workers, physicians, nurse practitioners, Care Management RN (discharge planner), Palliative Care, Hospice RNs, Child Life, and all Hem/Onc and other pediatric subspecialists who refer patients to the infusion room.
  • Takes an active role in planning the workflow of clinic and in a way that maximizes use of rooms and staff.
  • Proactively plan follow up visits, look ahead to schedules to help maintain the balance of patients to resources Benefits

        • BSN required
        • Previous Experience in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology including administration of chemotherapy and blood products required
        • Minimum two years of pediatric nursing experience with acutely ill patients.
        • APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider.
        • Previous experience with Epic preferred.
        • CPHON certification preferred
