experience): $21.63 - $32.39 . Job Summary The Security Officer
plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for
patients, visitors, and caregivers. In this position, you will
ensure the protection over Summit Pacific Hospital District
properties and facilities by safeguarding assets, protecting
against unauthorized access, and providing a visible presence to
deter potential incidents. Under the general direction of the
Emergency Management & Security Manager, you will perform a variety
of security duties to protect individuals and property from
accidents, bodily harm, theft, vandalism, fire, and illegal entry.
You will enforce hospital policies and security regulations,
investigate reports of potential criminal conduct, and address
security threats against patients, visitors, caregivers, and
property. To ensure a secure environment, you will patrol hospital
buildings and grounds, either on foot or in a vehicle, and remain
alert for violations of security regulations, suspicious activity,
unauthorized individuals, or safety hazards that could result in
injury or property damage. Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Surveillance & Patrol: Regularly monitor hospital premises,
including patient care areas, parking lots, entrances/exits, and
other hospital facilities to maintain a high level of safety and
security. Access Control: Monitor and control access to sensitive
areas. Ensure that only authorized personnel are permitted in
restricted areas. Surveillance Equipment: Operate and monitor
security systems, including surveillance cameras, duress systems
and intrusion detection systems. Report any suspicious activity or
security breaches immediately. Customer Service & Patient Support:
Offer assistance, direction, and information to patients, visitors,
and staff with a customer-centric approach. Conduct patient/visitor
escorts, vehicle assists, and welfare checks as needed. Support
patient belongings management, lost-and-found processes, and
visitor policy enforcement. Drills/Exercises: Assist with drills
and exercises (fire, evacuation, lockdown, etc.). Emergency
Response: Respond promptly to security-related emergencies, such as
medical emergencies, theft, disturbances, violent behavior, or
potential hazards. Conflict Resolution & De-escalation: De-escalate
situations where individuals may pose a risk to themselves, others,
or hospital property. Use physical restraint techniques when
necessary to prevent injury or damage. Incident Investigation &
Documentation: Investigate security incidents, document actions
taken, and report safety hazards. Ensure all incidents are
documented according to established procedures for reporting and
recordkeeping. Safety Monitoring: Continuously monitor hospital
property for safety hazards that could cause injury or damage, and
take appropriate action to mitigate risks. Staff Member
Responsibilities Professional Conduct: Maintain a professional
demeanor, appearance, and communication style when interacting with
patients, visitors, caregivers, and other hospital staff. Conflict
Management: Respond effectively to conflicts involving patients or
visitors, demonstrating professionalism, patience, and adherence to
hospital policies. Strive to resolve issues calmly and
respectfully. Confidentiality: Uphold confidentiality standards in
compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act) and other relevant privacy regulations.
Safeguard sensitive hospital and patient information at all times.
Training & Compliance: Actively participate in mandatory training
programs on hospital safety, security policies, emergency
procedures, and other relevant topics. Stay up to date on the
latest security protocols and hospital guidelines. Physical
Demands: Engage in emergency situations that may require the use of
physical force to de-escalate or restrain individuals who pose a
threat to persons or property. The ability to run, climb stairs, or
perform other physical activities in response to emergencies is
required This is a per diem position with variable days and shifts

responsibilities listed above, all employees are expected to adhere

ethical, professional, respectful, and collaborative manner.
Required Education and Experience Education: High school diploma or
equivalent required. Experience: Minimum of one year of experience
in a security-related field. Previous experience in a healthcare
setting is preferred Technical Skills: Proficient in using personal
computers and standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel,
Outlook, etc.). Required Licenses, Certifications and/or
Registrations Driver's License: Valid driver’s license. Driving
Record: Proof of a safe driving record, as verified by a motor
vehicle report (MVR) meeting Summit Pacific’s established
standards. Criminal Background Check: Must pass a criminal
background check. IAHSS Certification: IAHSS Basic Certification or
the ability to obtain it within 90 days of hire Nonviolent Crisis
Intervention Certification: Certification within 90 days of hire.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Safety Protocols: Strong
understanding of emergency response protocols, safety policies, and
security procedures. Communication Skills: Ability to effectively
communicate with diverse individuals, including patients, visitors,
caregivers, and emergency responders. Demonstrated ability to
de-escalate tense situations and make clear, calm decisions under
pressure. Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly assess
security-related situations and make sound, timely decisions,
especially in high-pressure situations. Attention to Detail:
Exceptional attention to detail in documenting incidents and
completing reports accurately. Customer Service Orientation: Strong
interpersonal skills and a service-oriented mindset, ensuring the
safety and comfort of our patients, visitors, and caregivers.
