TITLE: Network AdministratorHOURLY RANGE: $6,026/mo. to $7,292/mo.APPLICATION LOCATION: Apply on-line at APPLICATION Open until sufficient applications are received.DEADLINE: May close at any time without notice.SUMMARYThe Network Administrator (NA) role is to maintain a reliable, secure and efficient data communications network. The NA will be able to deploy, configure, maintain and monitor all active network equipment in order to ensure smooth network operation.Provide daily operations to secure, support and maintain network systems (including wireless, VoIP, L2/L3 devices, WAN/LAN and Firewall appliances). Proactively monitors networks to provide stable, dependable network services across multiple platforms. Configures and troubleshoots computer networks. Maintains LAN/WAN/wireless/VoIP operations by working with network hardware/software vendors to ensure timely problem resolution. Maintains and utilizes network management applications to identify network faults, to ensure the provision of data or other telecommunications access to customers, and movement of information among locations.SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITYThe NA is responsible for fully supporting, configuring, maintaining and upgrading C-TRAN's networks and in house servers. The incumbent will install and integrate new server hardware and applications, keep an eye out for needed updates and support and administer third-party applications.The incumbent will ensure network security and connectivity at all locations, monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, good put, and latency) and test for weaknesses and set up user accounts, permissions and passwords.The incumbent will assist project teams with technical issues in the initiation and planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research and development; technical analysis and design; support in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life-cycle. Works on multiple projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project leader.The incumbent will install, configure, maintain and perform system integration testing of systems. Monitors systems activities and fine tunes system parameters and configuration to optimize performance and ensure security of systems. Performs capacity analysis, monitors and controls usage of disk space. Develops procedures for routine administration including backup/restore, shutdown, and startup. Provides recommendations for improving server environment, such as capacity thresholds, security gaps, patch levels and hardware recalls.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe following summarizes the essential or key responsibilities/attributes of the position the incumbent will be required to perform with or without reasonable accommodation:Provide technical oversight, planning, expansion and troubleshooting of a multi-site enterprise level LAN, WAN, and wireless networks, including servers, firewalls, routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.Prepare and maintain documentation of network configurations, network mapping, processes and cabling layouts.Design, deploy, and administer the wireless network and supporting systems.Analyze and monitor network server security and make recommendations or implement patches/fixes to address potential security holes.Install new/rebuild existing network servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.Perform daily network monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.Perform regular network security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions, performs regular file archival and purge and creates, changes, and deletes user accounts per request.Perform ongoing network performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.OTHER FUNCTIONSProvide on-call and weekend support when needed.Other duties performed as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKnowledge of:Network and PC operating systems.Telephone systems.Current network hardware, protocols, and internet standards.Hardware troubleshooting.Routing protocols.Applicable data privacy practices and laws.Organizations goals and objectives.Skills:Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits.Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication.Strong customer service orientation.Ability to:Conduct research into networking issues and products as required.Present ideas in user-friendly language.Be self-motivated and directed, with attention to detail.Analytical and problem-solving.Effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.Work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field is required, along with formal training in computers and network.Requires a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years' experience and success with Network Administrative duties. Experience in the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Requires experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling/mapping, methodology development, and data modeling. Requires experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
