SUMMARYThe Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for the IT infrastructure and operations of databases, servers, networks, storage, e-mail, directory, and other technology platforms for the effective and efficient delivery of IT services and support capabilities to achieve business success. Proactively researches and recommends courses of action to prevent problems and to maintain high infrastructure service levels. Establishes metrics, key performance indicators, and service level agreements for driving the performance of IT service delivery.SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITYThe Infrastructure Administrator functions as technical lead and is responsible for planning, installing, integrating, testing, monitoring and administering the operations of a major enterprise-wide technology infrastructure platform that supports the C-TRAN enterprise network and telecommunication infrastructure; performs day-to-day tasks to ensure optimal system speed, security, reliability and performance.The incumbent is responsible for advising systematic know how of procedures, operations and work instructions, checking systems and equipment for substandard performance or malfunctioning and fixing systems and equipment problems as well as identifying performance problems and malfunctions. The incumbent will also maintain hardware and corresponding documentation of fixes, notes and recommendations, performing hardware checks using appropriate testing and benchmarking tools, daily infrastructure checks and reports. The incumbent will assist project teams with technical issues in the initiation and planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology. Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition from development to production by performing operations activities within the project lifecycle. Work is performed on multiple projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project leader. The incumbent will maintain monitoring and management platforms, monitor network usage; gathering monitoring statistics, manage routine preventative procedures and maintaining and monitoring network security. In addition, they must proactively manage the monitoring and reporting of infrastructure capacity including bandwidth, storage etc., provide capacity usage information to facilitate capacity planning, analyze and resolve faults. The Infrastructure Administrator will ensure that all IT equipment complies with industry standards, monitor network environments, update process, procedure and ensure installation and configuration requirements are met. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe following summarizes the essential or key responsibilities/attributes of the position the incumbent will be required to perform with or without reasonable accommodation:Maintain infrastructure monitoring and management platforms, monitor infrastructure usage, and gather monitoring statistics.Manage routine preventative procedures and maintain monitoring infrastructure security, ensure the infrastructure parameters adhere to OLAs and SLAs. Proactively manage the monitoring and reporting of infrastructure capacity including bandwidth and storage as well as provide capacity usage information to facilitate capacity planning. Installation and configuration (maintenance and new requirements); configure/add new services.Proactively maintain infrastructure to prevent failures and maintain development and testing of network environments Support and maintain new server hardware and software infrastructure as well as updating processes and procedures.Provide infrastructure tier 1 support and escalate to infrastructure tier 2 support (Infrastructure Engineers) or 3rd party when required.Administer and support server and network infrastructure; monitor and analyze system trends in the operational environment.Prepare and maintain documentation of infrastructure configurations network mapping, processes and cabling layouts.Design, deploy, and administer infrastructure and infrastructure supporting systems.Repair and recover from infrastructure failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.Perform ongoing infrastructure performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for infrastructure administration, usage, and disaster recovery.Conduct research on infrastructure products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the industry.OTHER FUNCTIONSProvide on-call and weekend support when needed.Other duties performed as assigned.KNOWELDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKnowledge of:Network and PC operating systems.Telephony systems. Current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards.Hardware troubleshooting.Applicable data privacy practices and laws.Organization's goals and objectives.Skills:Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits.Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication.Strong customer service orientation.Ability to:Conduct research into networking issues and products as required.Present ideas in user-friendly language.Be self-motivated and directed, with attention to detail.Analytical and problem-solving Effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.Work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field is required, along with formal training in computers and network. Requires a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years' experience and success with Infrastructure Administrative duties. Experience in the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products. Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Requires experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling/mapping, methodology development, and data modeling. Requires experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices. Requires Extensive application support experience. A CompTIA Network+ certification or other industry standard network certification is preferred. WORKING CONDITIONSENVIRONMENT:1. Office environment2. Constant interruptions3.
