Job Description:

A qualified candidate would be responsible for performing Ophthalmic Photography procedures, including but not limited to: Fluorescein Angiography, Fundus Photography, Stereo optic disc Photography. Prepare photography results digitally for interpretation by physician. Must be able to completely explain the tests to the member. Consult with physician concerning test results and alert physicians to test abnormalities. Explain test procedure and purpose to members. Makes members and their needs a primary focus; provides stellar member/customer service. Monitor and evaluate test readings during procedures. Essential Functions:Prepare for fluorescein angiography; perform fluorescein fundus angiogram consistent w/ Certification Standards established by the Ophthalmic Photographer's Society.Perform fundus & stereo photography consistent w/ Certification Standards established by the Ophthalmic Photographer's Society.Set up & maintain cameras, & associated ophthalmic equipment daily; calibrate correctly if necessary.Monitor Ophthalmic Photography service to ensure compliance to current standards, & maintain ongoing compliance standards.Must be able to identify the type of photograph (or the area that is to be photographed) that is ordered by the physician.Must be able to operate image-capturing & recording equipment, including cameras & other devices in order to produce photographs that meet the ordering physician's specifications & requirements.Confers w/ the ordering physician regarding the patient's photographic examination when necessary.Keep abreast of current Ophthalmic photography techniques, processes & equipment to ensure program is current & state of the art.Make recommendations to management regarding new state of the art procedures and/or equipment.Maintain quality control of all photographic equipment.Assist in developing Ophthalmic photography protocols & procedures.Ensure that all relevant sections of the EMR are completed & current.Maintain adequate quantities of medical & clerical supplies.Assist w/ pharmacy orders for fluorescein, etc. as required.Maintain patient care areas in a sanitary orderly condition.Prepare examining rooms for next patient after each use.Set up for photography following standard procedures.Ensure sterile condition of examination, treatment, & testing instruments as appropriate.Attend & participate in continuing education & in-service programs, team, staff, & other meetings as assigned.Follow appropriate infection control policies, maintaining knowledge of patient safety, fire, & disaster plans, as well as adhere to KP NW Service Behavior Standards. Includes but is not limited to: maintaining supplies, equipment & forms, notifying appropriate personnel when cleaning & repair of equipment is needed.Abide by billing, compliance, & coding guidelines as set by Kaiser, assuring departmental compliance w/ billing regulations delete & delete contract.Complete required yearly online compliance & safety training modules.Perform other diagnostic tests & duties as assigned. Must be willing & able to travel to any/all KP Ophthalmology clinic sites.Proficient & accurate keyboarding skills are required.Basic Qualifications:Minimum of five (5) years of Fluorescein Angiography and retinal photography (fundus and stereo disc photography) experience.WA Medical Assistant- Registered within sixty (60) days of hire.Current basic life support (BLS) for health care providers within thirty (30) days of hire.Knowledge of Ocular anatomy, physiology, pathology and terminology. Must be able to communicate both in writing and orally in English.Preferred Qualifications:Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing Ophthalmic photography including Fluorescein Angiography and Retinal photography (fundus and stereo disc photography), preferred.Certification as a CRA (Certified Retinal Angiographer) by the Ophthalmic Photographer's Society is strongly preferred.Member of Ophthalmic Photographer's Society is strongly preferred. Must be able to use all photographic equipment as listed above in Job Purpose, and must have proven skills, abilities, intellectual background, training and experience to produce consistent and ongoing high quality diagnostic ophthalmic photography (Fluorescein Angiography and Retina photography) results, preferred.Ability to perform B-Scans and OCT's are strongly preferred.Requires strong organizational and multitasking skills, as well as strong written and verbal communications skills, problem solving and creative thinking skills, preferred. Must be able to work independently or in a team, preferred. Must have excellent computer skills and a working knowledge of computer software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Photoshop, preferred.Working knowledge of OIS preferred.
