Job Description:

The Senior Hardware Engineer at ConMet is responsible for the hardware product design and development, engineering support, test requirements, and product release via APQP process for our digital products being developed in the NPI group. This engineer is tasked with all aspects of selecting wireless technologies, sensor selection and development, circuit board design and implementation, and turning these technologies into products that meet the needs of our markets.

Key duties include :

  • Design new products and maintain all Digital electrical boards and/or Analog, circuits, components and interconnects.
  • Develop and implement product designs and provide support to production and ensure compliance to timeframe, quality and cost targets.
  • Develop test strategy for products (Devices and system) to check viability with expected product cost and volumes
  • Collaborate with cross functional design teams such as hardware, mechanical and Software.
  • Collaborate with outsourced Validation and Manufacturing partners to ensure timely supply of systems and devices as per specification.
  • Manage technical aspects and monitor efficient deployment of new technologies and systems.

This is a newly created role in our New Product Introduction (NPI) group and office-based at our corporate headquarters in Vancouver, Washington.


Required Background & Experience:

  • Minimum 7+ years experience designing electronic devices including board-level circuit design
  • Experience designing IoT systems
  • Experience with BLE and other wireless technologies
  • Experience with RF antennae design and optimization
  • Experience with implementing cellular devices
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting electronic systems; logging and analyzing data
  • Bachelor's or Master of Science in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or a closely related field required

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience leading technology partners and vendors in a collaborative effort to bring emerging technology in house
  • Firmware / Software development experience (i.e., Java, Python, C/C++, etc.)
  • Experience with machine learning, machine condition monitoring
  • Commercial vehicle industry experience highly preferred
