Summary and Qualifications:The primary purpose and function of the Specialist, Fixed Assets is to create, transfer, retire, analyze, and ensure accuracy of Asset Subledger and support/assist the Senior Accountant with period end sub-ledger close. This position will assist the Accounting Team with the month-end close and year-end close processes, year-end audit, and various projects as needed.Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:+ Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team. + Support the Fixed Assets process by creating new assets, additions, and adjustments, transferring assets within the asset sub-ledger, retiring assets, placing assets into service, and validating CIP. + Ensure accuracy of balance sheet and P&L; assist with physical count of fixed assets. + Assist with period end accruals and period-end close process. + Interpret and apply GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) to transactions and record accurately. + Prepare month-end account reconciliations. + Create and maintain accounting process documentation, month-end, and year-end of the Asset Sub-ledger, as well as the year-end audit of the financial statements. + Analyze and research the following as necessary: periodic asset reports, hospital P&L statements, Central Team Support cost center P&Ls. + Deliver exceptional service to internal and external customers of the Finance Team. + Other job duties as assigned.Special Working Conditions:+ Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time. + Project timelines and work volume/deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job. + Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently. + Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables. + Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds. + Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment. + The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate. + Environment where pets are present.Experience, Education and/or Training:+ Bachelors degree in Accounting is preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. + Associate degree in Accounting is required. + Two years of relevant Fixed Assets accounting experience are required. + Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail is required. + Oracle experience is preferred.WE ARE A DRUG-FREE, SMOKE-FREE, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER.Banfield Pet Hospital strongly supports and values the uniqueness of all individuals and promotes a work environment where diversity is embraced.
