Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.The Structural Seismic Engineer, a part-time position, will be responsible for designing structures that can withstand earthquake activities. You will initially handle projects in the Western region and any global locations where assistance is needed.This position is open to working from home.Key responsibilities:Test variety of materials, such as steel or concrete, to determine how much damage they can sustain during seismic eventsPerform structural calculations in accordance with modern and historic buildings codes in support of building investigations or seismic retrofitResponsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteriaDevise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes and accepted engineering practicesPerform design work for new construction, renovations and improvement projectsInterpret and adapt traditional methods and approaches in developing design calculations, layouts, drawings, and specifications that support project objectives and standardsProvide design services including preparation of design drawings, structural evaluations and designsFollow and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for design review and project mobilization as necessaryComply with health, safety and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environmentPerform construction management duties including reviewing construction documents and submittals, performing and documenting daily inspections, and assisting with project punch listsPerform other qualified duties as assigned.Qualifications to be successful in the role:Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or universityRegistered Professional Engineer and passed the Civil Seismic Principles examWith seismic certification &/or with experience and competency in seismic designMinimum of 5 years design experience gained from the engineering/construction management industryPrevious experience working on US Government and military domestic and international projects preferredFamiliarity with military programming rules and documentation, advantageThorough knowledge of civil design and engineering techniquesProficient in creating designs using AutoCAD, Revit, and the use of Microsoft Office suiteExcellent communications, effective leadership, and interpersonal skillsMust be willing to travel for occasional international assignments.Able to obtain Secret Clearance.Planate Management Group is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
