Mobile Family-Community Resource and Engagement Coordinator8 hours per day, 10 months per yearWe appreciate your interest in employment with Vancouver Public Schools (VPS). Unfortunately, due to the number of applications received, not all applicants will receive an interview.Rsums should include education, relevant experience (including current position), and skills which highlight the qualifications of the position to which a person is applying.All district employees are encouraged to review their personnel file periodically to ensure that their file includes current and relevant documentation that supports their degree, education or credits, experience, training, etc., as it relates to qualifications described on job postings.Position Summary:The Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the development and operation of the Family-Community Resource Center at assigned location(s). In cooperation with the leadership team, the coordinator will establish and implement a site action plan to alleviate social and economic barriers to student learning. The Coordinator will become a key communicator of resources and support. The Coordinator will develop neighborhood partners to increase access to basic needs (e.g. housing, food, clothing, transportation, health and dental care, employment, etc.) and opportunities for student enrichment and parent engagement activities.Qualifications:A Bachelors degree in social or human services, education, human development, or related field and two (2) years of experience working in an education or social service setting. Education may be substituted, one for one, for relevant work experience.Experience working with economically, culturally, and linguistically diverse populations.Fluent in Spanish (highly desired).Experience writing proposals for small grant opportunities and funding requests (preferred).Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Characteristics:Knowledge of local, state, and federal resources to support low-income and under-represented populations.Proven ability to prioritize day-to-day programming and responsive to emergent issues and concerns.Consistently treat others with respect.Expend and monitor resources in accordance with policies and procedures.Willingness to contribute ideas and resources as part of a dynamic team.Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and visual materials).Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with school personnel, partners, parents and students.Committed to planning, implementing, documenting and reporting in support of District key performance indicators.Proficient working in a PC platform, with experience using Microsoft Office products and database software.Ability to compose professional correspondence.Ability to attend local meetings and share information as a representative of the school and district as assigned.Other Requirements:Valid drivers license and possess reliable transportation as travel may be required to and from school locationsMust be able to drive a large sprinter vanRegular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirementsWillingess to work flexible hoursEssential Functions:Treat co-workers, supervisors, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all timesServe as a positive role model for students, and practice the behaviors that are expected of our studentsWorks in a flexible and cooperative mannerCoordinate site operations, including: planning, organizing and delivering resources for basic needs and opportunities for student enrichment and parent engagement.In cooperation with the leadership team, develop a site action plan that will help alleviate social and economic barriers to student learning.Be a key communicator, sharing the vision for community schools.Connect with families and share community resources.Develop neighborhood partners to increase access to basic needs (e.g. housing, food, clothing, transportation, health and dental care, employment, etc.) and opportunities (e.g. student enrichment in-school and out-of-school, and parent engagement activities).Attend community meetings and share information.Forge and maintain partnerships between the school district, building, community, and local businesses to enhance community and volunteer involvement in school activities.Participate in planning and facilitating Parent Leadership Advisory Group.Encourage enrichment and engagement activities that promote equity.Enlist and coordinate support from student interns and volunteers.Participate in school committees and decision-making bodies.Serve as building liaison to organized groups.Achieve program objectives in compliance with professional standards, and in accordance with District policies and the community schools vision outlined by the National Coalition for Community Schools.Collect data, administer surveys and conduct other evaluation tasks as required.Participate in monthly meetings and trainings scheduled by supervisor.Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.It is understood that the district has the right to transfer and assign employees to best fit the needs of the district.
