We are currently seeking to add a Project Environmental Engineer to our dynamic team in Vancouver, Washington.

Working with the PBS Team

In this role, our Project Environmental Engineer will work with project managers, engineers, geologists and scientists to develop solutions for our clients and deliver exceptional projects. The Project Engineer will perform project management and technical work on a wide range of environmental projects including multi-media environmental compliance; stormwater management; solid and hazardous waste management; industrial wastewater compliance; spill prevention and control; design and optimization of stormwater, groundwater, wastewater, and soil treatment systems; and stormwater treatment system startup and operation.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Plan, administer and design engineering and environmental projects
  • Project Management and direct interface with clients during project execution
  • Manage preparation of multi-media environmental management plans (SWPCP/SWPPP, SPCC, ASPP, etc.)
  • Lead the evaluation, design and permitting of environmental projects including:
    • Stormwater system solutions for private and municipal clients
    • Environmental compliance
    • Evaluating remediation technologies
    • Preparing engineering calculations and assumptions
    • Presenting technical recommendations through engineering reports and figures
    • Preparing permit application packages
    • Preparing design drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages
  • Field oversight of construction projects related to site development or environmental systems
  • Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction and ensure that client objectives are met
  • Participate in business development opportunities
  • Participate in professional organizations and functions
  • Mentor young professionals
  • Estimate and budget labor hours for engineering projects; review job costing reports

Minimum Requirements:

  • Required Education: BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or closely related field
  • License: Oregon and/or Washington PE, or EIT on track for licensure within 12 months
  • 5 - 10 years of environmental engineering or science consulting experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products; AutoCAD, GIS, or hydrology modeling capabilities are a plus
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks
  • Detail oriented with good interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

An ideal candidate for this position will have demonstrated experience with:

  • Project management of small to medium size design projects

  • Industrial facility permitting and environmental compliance

  • Stormwater, wastewater, or water treatment and retrofits

  • Successful application of Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) rules and regulations

  • Familiarity with code requirements (e.g. local site development requirements, stormwater management manuals, fire code, plumbing code, etc.)
