Summary and Qualifications:A Data Manager, also known as Data Steward, is responsible for managing the entire data ecosystem, ensuring data privacy, readiness, and maturity of the organization. The Data Manager is responsible for providing global leadership of Division data assets and strategy.The Data Manager further provides Stewardship of data, overseeing the proper documentation through creation of data dictionaries and data catalog. Finally, the Data Manager/Steward helps define standards of governance around the proper licensing, use, access, privacy, and security of each data source.Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:* Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.* Data Governance - Work with Data Privacy Officer to define privacy policy to ensure compliance with global data privacy regulations (GDPR) and other industry specific regulations (e.g., PII). Work with Information security to define security and access control policies.* Data Gathering- Identify and locate internal data sources (first party data), data emanating from managed systems, service providers and processes (second party data), and purchased data from external data providers (third-party data), data source owners, data source subject matter experts for each data source that exists internal to the organization. Document the licensing, permitted use, renewal, expiry, and scope of each data source. Work with finance in understanding the true cost of ownership over the full lifecycle of each data source, the feasibility of moving data to a centralized, cloud-based data platform (like Azure), and identify strategies to reduce true cost of ownership over time.* Data Stewardship - Evaluate the maturity (completeness, accuracy, and timeliness) of each data source. Document each data source, create data dictionaries & data catalog. Design and maintain Master Data Management. Define Data Quality guidelines, work with Data Engineers to define Data Quality Checks.* The Data Manager will work with the Business Unit functional teams i.e., Medical, Hospital Operations and Marketing/Ecommerce, Finance and BI.* The Data manger will collaborate with Legal Counsel.* Work closely with the Use Case Implementation leads.* The Data Manager will liaise with Data Owners and Subject Matter Experts (SME's).* Other job duties as assigned.Special Working Conditions:* Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.* Project timelines and work volume/deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.* Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.* Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.* Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.* Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.* The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.* Environment where pets are present.Experience, Education and/or Training:* Bachelor's degree is required.* Five to seven years of experience in Data Management are required.* Data Privacy Regulations experience is preferred.* Data Stewardship Process experience is preferred.* Healthcare background (veterinary or human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.) is preferred.WE ARE A DRUG-FREE, SMOKE-FREE, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER.Mars Veterinary Health (MVH) strongly supports and values the uniqueness of all individuals and promotes a work environment where diversity is embraced.
