NIKE, Inc. Beaverton, OR. Oversee the data engineering team. Provide technical leadership to take projects from zero to completion. Architect, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and access patterns related to permissions and security. Research, evaluate and utilize new technologies/tools/frameworks centered around high-volume data processing. Set the technical direction and drive engineering excellence across the team. Oversee and complete migration of legacy processes to a shared scalable data infrastructure. Design and implement distributed data processing pipelines using tools and languages prevalent in the big data ecosystem. Drive a culture of collaborative reviews of designs, code and test plans. Work with architecture engineering leads to ensure quality solutions are implemented and engineering best practices adhered to. Utilize and advance continuous integration and deployment frameworks. Troubleshoot complex data issues and perform root cause analysis. Work across teams to resolve operational and performance issues. Identify and remove technical bottlenecks for your engineering squad


Applicant must have a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering or related field or equivalent and 5 years of experience in the job offered or a software engineering related occupation. Experience must include the following:


  • Big Data-Streaming and Analytics technologies;

  • Designing, reviewing, implementing and optimizing distributed data processing applications;

  • Apache Hadoop, Amazon EMR, Kinesis, Spark, Apache HBase, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Scoop, or Hive;

  • Developing Web services in Java/J2EE, and Scala to serve aggregated data processed in batch mode to analytic dashboards; and

  • Configuring the Hadoop cluster using major Hadoop Distribution such as HortonWorks and Cloudera
