Headquartered in Camas, Washington, nLIGHT is a publicly listed company (NASDAQ: LASR).Who You AreAs a critical member of the Mechanical Engineering team, you will be a subject matter leader and mentor within a multidisciplinary team focused on the design, documentation, and production release of reliable high-power laser and optical assemblies for industrial applications. You will bring a strong technical background, clear communication skills throughout all levels of the company, a growth-oriented mindset, and have the drive and soft skills needed to mentor junior team members. Your Responsibilities Lead mechanical design efforts in the development of new kilowatt-class laser systems and products Work within the development team to help define user interfaces, overall system layouts, product requirements, and cost objectives Apply DFX and other design principals to create manufacturing-friendly, cost-optimized solutions Execute design verification test protocols that include environmental and accelerated life testing Oversee and participate in the procurement and assembly of engineering and prototype builds Mentor junior members of the mechanical engineering team and interface with management about team and technology-related topicsYour Qualifications Minimum of BS degree in mechanical engineering or comparable and 7 years of experience in a mechanical engineering role. Experience designing cost-efficient and reliable products for industrial environments Strong ability to conduct engineering analyses including heat transfer, thermal modeling, and stress/strain behavior, shock and vibration and use the analysis to inform overall design, materials selection, cost reduction, etc. Proficiency with SolidWorks and engineering drawing practices including tolerance analysis and working understanding of GD Candidate shall be highly organized, detail-oriented possess clear written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills are essential for this roleExceptional candidates will have 7 years of development experience with highly reliable and manufacturable low-cost products Detailed understanding of high tolerance opto-mechanical design Experience with high power/high heat load lasers or other kilowatt class systems Proficiency with ANSYS analysis software Experience managing other engineers and directing their day-to-day activitiesExperienced with New Product Introduction (NPI) and product qualification practicesBenefits We Offer Competitive compensation package Employee Stock Purchase Plan Generous paid time off and company observed holiday pay Medical, dental, and vision plans available on the first day of the month after the start date Health Savings Account, with company contribution, and Flexible Spending Account 401(k) plan with company match Monthly stipend for cell phone expenses nLight is subject to US export Control regulations.
