Job Description:
What you will do: The IT Solution Architect is part of the IT
team and is responsible for delivering greater business value from
Tillamook s investments in Microsoft s Cloud Data Warehousing
resources such as Azure and Fabric. The role will plan the
architecture and solution design of enterprise data warehouses/data
marts and reporting using Azure, Fabric and Power BI. They will
oversee the work of developers for data delivery needs, to support
adherence to best practices and standards. The Solution Architect
will be the guide for architectural principles and standards.
Moreover, it will support the development and integration of
technology at Tillamook to achieve centralized, gold standard,
reporting to support data driven insights at Tillamook.
Here s a day in the life:
Lead initiatives to champion the use of Power BI, MS Fabric and
Cloud Data Warehouse solutions. This would include meeting with
stakeholders, leaders, and end users to ensure product and solution
adoption.
Provide technical leadership on best practices to build and
maintain a secure and stable Azure Data Warehouse. Develop and
communicate plans for end-to-end data delivery development,
completion, and testing. Ability to work independently or
collaborate with IT and business partners, manage through ambiguous
situations, and flexibility to prioritize and reprioritize as
business requests change.
Lead the architectural designs for Azure Data Warehouse. Direct and
validate the work of the citizen developers. Recommend and
implement solutions to increase effectiveness and efficiency of BI
architecture and model design to further enhance support
capabilities, documentation, and reporting. Full BI application
lifecycle development, from envisioning of features through to
their end development into production. Responsible for designing
and leading the implementation of data security infrastructure for
cloud-based data warehouse.
Assist management with cost optimization for Azure resources.
Responsible for designing and leading implementation of DevOps
infrastructure for cloud-based data warehouse. Responsible for
designing and leading implementation of data governance best
practices for cloud-based data warehouse. Responsible for designing
and leading implementation of monitoring and alert systems for data
warehouse.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Business Management, or a
related field is preferred; technical training with significant
related experience can be substituted for a degree.
10+ years of IT experience with increasing responsibility and
domain expertise in various cloud data warehousing solutions,
including MS Fabric, Azure, GitHub and Power BI.
Experience in designing, developing, and delivering innovative
solutions cloud data warehousing, as well as providing technical
guidance, training, and leading projects with cross-functional
teams.
Understanding or experience in various coding languages such as
SQL, Spark, DAX.
Experience designing and delivering technical training to
non-technical users at all levels of the organization.
Proven business acumen and ability to simplify technical concepts
into business language.
Experience providing proactive technical recommendations. Required
skills:
Data Visualization (Power BI, Tableau). Develop both physical and
logical data models using industry standard practices (e.g.,
Kimball methodology). Experience in translating ambiguous business
processes into dimensional models for reporting. Experience
building large-scale design, implementation, and operations of
OLTP, OLAP, DW and NoSQL data storage technologies such as SQL
Server, Azure SQL, Azure SQL DW, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, Redis
Cache, Azure Data Lake, Azure Stream Analytics, Event Hubs,
Databricks, Python, Scala, or Power BI. DevOps processes (including
CI/CD) and Infrastructure as Code fundamentals. Ability to design
and implement automated deployments and testing as well as design,
implement and adhere to version control standards. (Azure DevOps,
GitHub). Experience with Azure Tools, such as Data Factory,
Synapse, Cosmos DB, Analysis Services, ML.
Design, implement and adhere to security model. Experience with
Azure Active Directory. Collaborated with business partners to
gather requirements, understand business needs, and design BI
solutions that meet business objectives. Communicate complex
technology solutions to diverse teams, such as technical, business,
and management teams. Experience in design and delivery of
technical training to non-technical users. Drives innovation and
develops roadmaps through modern technologies and approaches to
fulfill strategic business plans.
Preferred skills:
Experience with Python, R, YAML, C#, PowerShell. Knowledge of
Microsoft CRM applications. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Finance
and Supply Chain. Experience with Function Apps & Power Apps.
Experience with cloud computing, including SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS.
Experience managing/developing IT security for an enterprise.
Experience in On-Prem Identity (Active Directory. Experience with
Scrum or Agile methodology for project management. Experience using
JIRA.
