With a focus on NW Natural's Gas Control Department, provides
development support for the creation, presentation, and maintenance
of online and Instructor-led training programs. Works
collaboratively with Gas Control and Field Operations Training
departments to evolve and maintain the Gas Control training
program. Collaborates with subject matter experts to assess
training needs, designs and develops training curriculum and
programs, and evaluates the effectiveness of training for Gas
Control operations in a natural gas public utility. Following
Instructional Systems Design (ISD) concepts uses SuccessFactors
Learning Management System, SAP Enable Now eLearning authoring
software, Microsoft and Adobe software applications, and SharePoint
server to create, store, and present training materials.
Day to Day:
Working independently with general supervision from Field
Operations Training, Training Development Program Manager and Gas
Control Department Manager, designs and conducts the Gas Control
Department training program.
Creates and maintains an annual schedule of training courses for
new and experienced department employees as well as groups with
whom the department interacts as required by regulations.
Works with Gas Control Manager, Subject Matter Experts, Technical
Trainers, and other ISDs to design training solutions, including
instructor-led classroom training with lab exercises and
online/e-learning programs that meet the learning requirements of
Gas Control employees and groups who interact with Gas Control.
Designs and maintains a communication system to disseminate
training and management information from management and collect
communication from Gas Controllers.
Uses familiarity with knowledge management techniques to coordinate
and manage file migration to SharePoint and other document
Uses project management skills to define and meet project
milestones and communicate issues/risks in a timely manner.
Follows shared standards when creating training materials, using
established instructional theories and design principles. Ensures
consistency between all training materials and company
Coordinates and maintains all training material, including issuing
updates and revisions to ensure compliance with internal and
external codes, regulations, and standards.
Produces instructional animations, illustrations, photos, videos,
websites, media libraries to support the learning process.
Working with SMEs, establishes training program/course objectives
and intended learning outcomes. Develops valid and reliable
assessment tools to measure objectives.
Analyzes the effectiveness of training through written and
performance assessments including job performance and other
post-training assessments. Identifies areas for improvement and
resolves issues by updating and improving training materials.
Researches advances in training technologies and stays abreast of
learning platforms. Researches and/or identifies audience
appropriate delivery approaches, training methodologies, and
technologies. Develops training materials to optimize the use of

Bachelor's Degree in instructional design, adult learning, training
and development or related field or equivalent combination of
education and experience. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years' experience designing and implementing training

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of
instructional design theories and principles to the development of

Base salary range: $77,900.00 - $112,950.00 per year, depending on
