Entry Level - Construction Estimator/Project Engineer

Job Description:

Contech Services is a specialty concrete repair, strengthening and restoration contractor with offices in Seattle, Portland and Los Angeles. - -Our areas of expertise include modern cementitious and polymer technologies and we perform repair and strengthening on hundreds of concrete structures a year from each of our offices. -We work with public and private entities, building owners, property managers, general contractors and structural engineering firms as a daily course of business. -
We are currently seeking a Project Engineer / Estimator to join our Portland, OR office located in Vancouver WA.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Stays current with RFP's, conducts site visits and pre-con meetings, and works with Project Managers in quantity take off, estimating and bid preparation
  • Daily monitoring of bid sites and other resources to monitor upcoming projects including making cold calls to potential clients to generate work
  • Ensure that prospective job leads, and bids are submitted on time and are diligently followed
  • Knowledgeable of the project specifications and company procedures as they relate to the specific project
  • Monitor project schedules, completion dates, deadlines and assisting with project efficiencies
  • Interface with client representatives with regards to project conditions, changes, coordination issues, safety, and schedules. -Participation in project meetings will be required
  • Assist project managers with cost controls, monthly pay requests, project inventory usage, change order pricing and billing
  • Supports project managers with record keeping, documentation, change order requests, RFI's, JHA's, verifying quantities, material and equipment control/ordering, maintenance, and deliveries
  • Completes job dispatch sheets, JHA's, CO's, RFI's and other submittals as required
  • Helps coordinate the management and scheduling of subcontractors, special inspection, rentals, and additional special requirements with Foreman
  • Assists the Superintendent with crew scheduling, staff utilization and productivity to ensure project profitability
  • Review of daily reports and weekly timecards for accuracy and submittal to accounting
  • Work with Superintendent to ensure adequate training of field staff for safe execution of project assignments
  • Field support as required: installation questions, project layout, client meetings, etc.
  • Responsible to support the company safety policies and procedures, violations are to be reported immediately to the project superintendent and or management
  • Work with Safety Consultant to monitor safety, security, and environmental protection of work sites
  • Make sure that the company image and reputation are maintained
  • Contact clients to foster long term strategic relationships with key corporate clients and government agencies
  • Represent Contech at conferences, seminars, and community events, and trade shows
  • Ensure Contech's membership in key organizations
  • Stay current with applicable certifications
  • Help facilitate warehouse and equipment management as required
  • Monitor revenue and profitability of jobs, and report to General Manager
    Other Duties:
    • Work in a cooperative manner with other employees
    • Assist with special requests as needed
    • Interfacing and assisting with other Contech offices may be required
    • Periodically, some travel to remote job sites or training classes may be required
    • Participate in company safety training programs as required
    • Coach/mentor new employees
    • Become familiar with Company Policies, Procedures and Materials
    • Become familiar with Union rules and regulations
      Working Conditions:
      • You will have an office in the main company facilities to be used for administrative duties and meetings. -Additionally, may have an onsite office. -Coordination of documentation etc. between these offices is expected.
      • Time on job sites is mandatory; time will be spent with our crews on various job sites. -Visits to these sites will require proper PPE and a professional image.
        • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering desired
        • Must be proficient at reading project drawings, specifications, and contract documents
        • Proficient with MS Office Products, including MS Project
        • Experience using Bluebeam Revu and AutoCAD is beneficial
        • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational and time management skills
        • Physical demands: ability to sit, stand, lift, and climb ladders/scaffolding as needed
        • General knowledge of construction principles/ practices
          • Experience in any of the following scopes of work:
            • Concrete Repair
            • Epoxy Pressure Injection
            • Expansion Joint Covers
            • Fiber Reinforced Polymers
            • Post- Tensioning Repairs & Modifications
            • Waterproofing & Sealing / Traffic Coatings -
